Agreement Addresses Growing Ransomware Threat with Solutions and Services

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Oct. 23, 2019 — SPYRUS Solutions, Inc (“SPYRUS”) announced today it has signed a distribution agreement with SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a leading business process services company. SPYRUS develops and deploys cryptographic operating systems, providing the strongest protection for secured identity access, data in motion, data at rest and data in process. Together SPYRUS and SYNNEX will bring enhanced security solutions and services to enterprises and vertical markets in North America, including higher education and federal, state and local government.

SYNNEX is focused on building high-quality security solutions for its partner channel. With ransomware and other cybersecurity attacks increasing and specifically targeting public sector entities, the addition of solutions from SPYRUS will enhance the security offerings of the SYNNEX reseller channel in the U.S. and Canada.  In addition, universities that receive Federal government funding must continue to evolve their security protocols to meet standards such as the United States’ Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).  SPYRUS solutions enable universities and other enterprises to meet stringent “mandate to secure” requirements.  Enterprises can no longer rely on “good enough” security and will benefit from the solutions and services delivered via this partnership.

“We are very pleased to establish a relationship with SYNNEX, one of the largest value-added distributors in North America, to broaden the distribution of our security solutions,” said Grant Evans, chief executive officer and chairman, SPYRUS. “Security threats like ransomware are growing across the globe, and many enterprises such as universities and city governments do not have the resources or capabilities to fully protect themselves.  SYNNEX can provide the necessary high-touch services and support, augmenting our best-in class solutions.”

“As an industry leader in IT distribution and security, SYNNEX is able to deliver innovative solutions and services to help customers address growing cyberthreats,” said Scott Young, vice president, product management, SYNNEX Corporation. “We are excited to team with SPYRUS, an emerging leader in security solutions that ensure the highest level of verified identity and encrypted data protection while helping meet stringent regulatory requirements.”

Addressing the Threat to IP at American Universities

BLOG

American universities are hotspots for innovation and research, drawing hundreds of thousands of students from around the globe to the United States with the intent to learn—and some with the intent to steal. America’s universities must protect the research funded with billions of dollars invested by U.S. federal and state governments from bad actors sponsored by foreign corporations and governments.

Government-funded projects at U.S. universities have led to advancements in everyday life including the MRI, modern communication devices and the internet. In addition, today’s leading companies, including Google, Cisco Systems and CREE, originated from government-funded research. Because of these successes, foreign nations target U.S. universities to steal emerging technology and shortcut their own research requirements. Universities must continue to protect the international research community fostered with true end-to-end security for user access and protection of data at rest, in motion, and in process.

Texas A&M is a leading university in research. SPYRUS is working with the Texas A&M University System to deploying a model solution that will allow researchers in higher education to meet the requirements for Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Non-federal Systems and Organizations, which is stipulated by the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) clause 252.204-7012 in accordance with NIST SP 800-171. Just as our corporations have taken security threats seriously, our universities and university systems must do so as well, and Dr. Kevin Gamache’s approach could be a model for others to emulate.

Sectigo and SPYRUS Partner to Combat Ransomware Attacks with Fully Automated Digital Identity Management

NEWS

Collaboration Ensures the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of Sensitive Data; Higher Education Among Early Adopters

ROSELAND, N.J. and SAN JOSE, Calif., – October 8, 2019 – Sectigo, the world’s largest commercial Certificate Authority (CA) and a provider of purpose-built and automated PKI management solutions, today announced a partnership with SPYRUS, a provider of cryptographic operating systems delivering the strongest protection for data in motion, at rest, and at work, to help universities and enterprises protect against ransomware attacks. By collaborating, Sectigo and SPYRUS ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data, enabling organizations to combat ransomware attacks.

“It is increasingly important for enterprises to manage and secure digital identities properly,” said Damon Kachur, Vice President, IoT Solutions, Sectigo. “The collaboration between Sectigo and SPYRUS combines purpose-built PKI solutions with cryptographic operating systems to fully automate digital identity management, helping to assure organizations that their sensitive data is protected from cybercriminals.”

Device identity, authentication, and access management are critical to ransomware prevention. The SPYRUS Rosetta™ Hardware “Root of Trust” product suite protects the private keys for Sectigo-provided device identity and encryption certificates to enable strong authentication and secure storage. Together, SPYRUS and Sectigo provide fully automated management of all digital identities, regardless of issuer, across use cases, such as banking and financial transactions, as well as computing and IoT device authentication, using modern industry standards.

Cybersecurity Ventures predicts that a new organization will fall victim to a ransomware attack every 11 seconds by 2021. A type of malware attack, ransomware is spread through malicious email attachments, infected software apps, and external storage devices. Public sector organizations are hit particularly hard by Ransomware attacks, which lock the data on a victim’s computer until a cybercriminal receives payment and returns access. For example, hacks of school districts and universities are causing cities to declare a state of emergency, and a recent ransomware attack on the Baltimore government cost the city $18.2 million.

Texas A&M University System Safeguards Research

“Given the openness of American society, particularly in academic and scientific communities, costly incidents of ransomware continue to grow. By partnering with Sectigo, we can comprehensively address the security challenges universities and enterprises face in managing digital identities,” explained Grant Evans, CEO, SPYRUS. “Our partnership with Sectigo enables enterprises across sectors to address device identity, authentication, and access to combat these attacks.”

The Texas A&M University System is deploying a model solution that will allow researchers in higher education to meet all of the requirements for Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations, which is stipulated by the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) clause 252.204-7012 in accordance with NIST SP 800-171.

Kevin R. Gamache, Ph.D., chief research security officer with The Texas A&M University System, anticipates the Root of Trust offered by SPYRUS Solutions—along with the automated PKI management and distributed revocation status—will protect the University System’s authentication, encryption keys and algorithms.

“We expect solutions offered by SPYRUS and Sectigo to help ensure strong authenticated data encryption that will protect universities’ intellectual property. This model will scale to assure that all university research is secured and compliant with DFARS,” said Dr. Gamache.

SPYRUS Supports National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

NEWS

Company Focuses on Raising Awareness of Protecting Data at Rest, In Motion, on the Go

SAN JOSE, Calif.— Oct. 1, 2019 — SPYRUS Solutions, Inc (“SPYRUS”) announced today its commitment to raising awareness of cyberthreats we face today—such as ransomware—and how to protect against those threats throughout the month of October in support of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCASM).  Held every October, NCASM is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online.

NCSAM 2019 emphasizes personal accountability and stresses the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home and in the workplace. This year’s overarching message — Own IT. Secure IT. Protect IT. — will focus on key areas including citizen privacy, consumer devices, and ecommerce security.

“As a global leader in delivering products and solutions that ensure the highest level of verified identity and encrypted data protection, SPYRUS has seen increases in hacking and ransomware attacks,” commented Grant Evans, chief executive officer and chairman, SPYRUS Solutions.  “We know that enterprises also expose data due to employee mistakes or insider threats.  SPYRUS strongly supports DHS efforts to raise awareness and encourage all organizations to strengthen their security and protection practices.  We are committed to do our part to help organizations and individuals reduce their risk and become more secure.”

Throughout October, SPYRUS will share content around this year’s theme of “Own it. Secure it. Protect it.”  Enterprises across all vertical markets including government, finance and higher education, are grappling with the increasing sophistication of security threats as well as the challenges posed by employees bringing their own devices to the office or working remotely using unsecured Wi-Fi.  SPYRUS aims to bring leading edge encryption solutions to all enterprises seeking to protect their customer, employee and company data.
