The US Department of Defense (DoD) continues to progress the requirement to insist contractors protect their sensitive data and the sensitive data of their clients. Designed to standardize government-grade cybersecurity in the private sector, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) builds upon the existing DFARS 252.204-7012 that is based on trust by adding a verification component with respect to cybersecurity requirements and extends controls beyond NIST SP 800 171, federal government cybersecurity regulations for protecting controlled unclassified information in nonfederal systems and organizations. These regulations could become the standard cybersecurity best-practices for all enterprises with government contracts, grants, or regulatory requirements.

SPYRUS applauds this approach as we believe it is imperative contractors patch up security holes to protect their data and reputation and the data and reputation of their clients. We encourage contractors to not wait until the regulation is in place but rather to begin preparing to meet the CMMC requirements, at a minimum, independent evaluation of their NIST SP 800 171 controls.

We are proud to enable any organization to immediately meet the DFARS Clause 252.204-7012 deadline for Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting – and be ready for a CMMC audit that will be necessary to do business with the DoD.
